The Acoustibass model was created in the ’94, and at that time it was really a pioneering approach, using a piezo pickup on a solidbody instrument and blending it with the magnetic element. The result is a bass that was even included on digital sound library “broomstick bass”, a VST module, between the classic sounds references we all know.
All across the years we constantly strived to improve this concept till to today, building some interesting variations that we call The Woody. The main push we had for this was from Daniele Camarda who required an organic “woody” bass focused just on the piezo sound. See Daniele’s instruments on the Acoustibass page.
Another recent delivery is one made for Elie Afif that has the concepts of the Acoustibass Woody wearing a Mojave outfit, with an added magnetic. Here is his report:
“I had already 3 gigs with this bass man, I can’t say anything it is just, so nice man, I love it, just I think the best bass I’ve ever played, it’s just mine.
Thank you again for your work man, you re a master.
All I can say about this bass, it is like 3-in-1, an acoustic bass, a jazz bass, and an acoustic jazz bass,
What a bass, really walking on it using the piezo is just so real and clear!!! It is just amazing and so sensitive anywhere you place your right hand and hit the string you get a new sound.
Mixing the piezo and the pickup gave me my favorite sound while soloing or grooving. You get the beautiful warm sound with punch and great presence of mids, and the wood sound coming through the piezo. The sensitivity that the bass has, man!!! You get what is called a Perfect sound just in any case.
It is really a pleasure to use this bass. Since I got it, sometimes I am falling asleep with the bass in my hands, just can’t stop playin’ it. I have had it only for 2 weeks, so I’m sure there is still so much to discover. There are still many beautiful things hidden in there!!!!
Again to get it all, you got to love it all!!!! Thank you Andrea for this !!!
