The Manne Acoustibass, Semiacustica, Acustivibe, Vibrabass and Woody models have something in common: the piezo transducer.
Our piezo transducer is made especially for Manne by the guru Michael Tauber. The first model was created around ’96: a piezo flexible coaxial cable with a preamp directly connected to it. Compared to a typical crystal piezo, the custom designed Manne unit had a broader and more even frequency response with very low battery consumption. It was so good that it was certainly copied by at least two other makers.
Now we have a new model. Michael was able to find a new material with new exciting features. Superior performance and great for a wide tonal range and wide dynamics. We started using it on the piezo models, getting whole new ranges of sounds. There will be new developments also for its use on the Woody, combining it with a XLR DI phantom jack-specific circuit.
