A new Taos was created for our upcoming Twenty Fifth Anniversary, and the instrument received great comments from players at the Milano Guitar show held on 20 November.
It’s the first Taos that sports a 25.5-inch traditional scale length, as the Taos usually features a 25.2-inch scale.
The construction of the body was borrowed from our newer style Acoustibass. Due to its reduced thickness, the top does not cover completely the shaping contour.
The effect is pleasantly asymmetrical enhanced by a revealed black layer under the top. We lightly chambered the body choosing a medium-heavy piece of black korina.
For the pickup layout, we decided on three custom wound singles to deliver a very classic single-coil tone.
Mama Pickups is an Italian company creating very high quality output. They suggested their Runner Model singles, which feature a partial coil output, so they can produce normal or over-wounded tones.
Following the results of some of our acoustic studies, in particular on acoustic resistance factor, we tried to limit the refraction of string vibrations, encouraging the transmission from bridge to body by placing a resin base in between them.
The result is what we can call the “state of the art” at Manne, with a great new aesthetic look, unsurpassed classic tone and resonance, all appreciated and tested by most selective visitors at the ground exhibition.
