When I saw the guitar bridge created by Federico Pecci of Riviera gear it was like, “yes! Somebody did it right, finally!”
It was reminding me of the bridge I developed in ’87 for my first guitar made. That original headstock featured six vertical screws with a nut that was locking the string. They were then replaced by a string lock after the zero fret.
So I started working on a tribute to that first guitars. The first Taos was made in November ’93.
Since then the shape always had minor touch ups that I call “evolutions”.
Here is the latest one. On the headstock there are very light string lockers, so it was possible to reduce the upper horn length. I prefer to keep a headstock, (like in the first guitar made) to avoid feeling there is something missing, but especially because I think headstock, with his mass, adds harmonics and resonances, enriching the complexity of sounds.
I asked Mama pickups to suggest me their best tonal recipes, making also a custom shape of the pickups ,with same radius and same width measures to have a harmonic look.
Omnia Rocker humbucker is a modern PAF with alnico 5 magnets. The Dynamic Split System gives a real single coil sound from this humbucker that is well balanced with the humbucking sound. The new Classic single coils are built with pre-CBS materials, alnico 5 magnets and heavy formvar wire, but offers a better output and versatility due to the overwounding.
